Legal Definition
A warrant issued by a court or magistrate in another New Mexico jurisdiction (outside the arresting county but within the state) for a person's arrest. The warrant commands any peace officer to take the person into custody and bring them before the issuing court to answer for an alleged offense or court order violation. This is an administrative hold based on another jurisdiction's active warrant, not a separate substantive criminal charge.
Possible Punishment
No independent penalty. The person is held pending transfer to the jurisdiction that issued the warrant, where they will face the underlying charge or proceeding specified in the warrant. Bond and conditions are typically set by the issuing court.
Local Context
This code reflects an out-of-county (but in-state) warrant detainer. The person may be extradited within New Mexico under the Uniform Criminal Extradition Act or released on bond as determined by the issuing jurisdiction. The underlying offense for which the warrant was issued governs any eventual penalty.
