Las Cruces Man, 40, Booked on Burglary and Theft Charges at Nmsu Campus

Allegedly... Christopher A. Berumen, a 40-year-old resident of Las Cruces, was booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center on Oct. 27, 2025. He faces multiple allegations including felony auto burglary, possession of burglary tools, and two counts of probation violation. Records indicate he was also charged with criminal trespass, resisting or obstructing, and possession of drug paraphernalia following his arrest at 1770 E. University Ave. He is currently held without bond under booking number 2500008802. According to news reports from KFOX14 and CBS4, Berumen was apprehended in connection with the alleged theft of two trailers at the New Mexico State University campus. Court and news records show the arrest followed reports of criminal damage to property and the unlawful taking of motor vehicles at the university site.
