Las Cruces Man, 39, Jailed on Auto Burglary and Probation Violation Counts

Allegedly... Christopher A. Berumen, 39, of Las Cruces, was booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center on October 27, 2025, after an arrest at 1770 E. University Avenue. Jail records list seven counts: auto burglary, possession of burglary tools, criminal trespass, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting or obstructing an officer, and two probation violations. Bond on the bookable counts was set at $1,000, while the probation violations are being held without bond. The University Avenue address sits along a commercial corridor on Las Cruces' east side. A KFOX-TV report from February 2022 identified a Christopher Berumen in connection with an arrest by NMSU Police for criminal trespass, criminal damage to property, and two counts of unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, and noted he had been banned from NMSU property.
