Las Cruces Man, 34, Sentenced for Assault on Federal Officers

Christopher Jack Leach, 34, of Las Cruces, was processed into the Doña Ana County Detention Center on April 4, 2025, under booking number 2500002554. Records indicate he was booked on a felony charge involving all other offenses following an arrest on West Picacho Avenue. He is currently being held without bond at the facility. According to court and news records, Leach was apprehended by New Mexico State Police after a pursuit in which he used a stolen vehicle to ram a U.S. Border Patrol unit. U.S. Attorney’s Office reports show that he subsequently pleaded guilty to charges of assault upon a federal officer involving physical contact.
