Las Cruces Man, 35, Booked at County Jail on Federal Transfer

The booking sheet lists a single felony count categorized as "all other offenses," with bond noted as not applicable. A Las Cruces resident named Daniel Roberto Herrera was among 16 defendants announced in November 2024 as facing federal charges in what the U.S. Attorney's Office, DEA and HSI described as a major drug trafficking conspiracy in southern New Mexico. KRQE and the Las Cruces Bulletin, citing federal prosecutors, reported that 14 of the defendants were accused of conspiring to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl following an 18-month investigation. According to court documents summarized in those reports, Herrera, known by the nickname "Fat Boy," faces a minimum of five years and up to 20 years in prison if convicted; prosecutors alleged an April 4, 2024, traffic stop tied to his case recovered 202 fentanyl pills and roughly 31 grams of methamphetamine.
