Allegedly... David Curtis, 46, of Las Cruces, was booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center on June 10, 2026. Records indicate he was arrested by the New Mexico State University Police Department and faces a fourth-degree felony charge of possession of an explosive device or incendiary device. He is currently being held without bond under booking number 2600004757.
According to news reports and court records, the arrest followed an investigation into alleged pipe bomb detonations in a desert area near "A" Mountain. News coverage from Organ Mountain News and other outlets indicates that NMSU police responded to reports of two explosions involving an RV located south of the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum. Investigators subsequently charged Curtis in Doña Ana County Magistrate Court in connection with the materials found at the scene.
The charges are allegations, and Curtis is presumed innocent unless and until a court finds otherwise.
