Las Cruces Man, 22, Booked on Court Commitment Following Embassy Drive Standoff

Allegedly... Dominic Gage Martinez, 22, of Las Cruces, was booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center on Aug. 6, 2026. Martinez was processed on a felony court commitment charge under booking number 2600006249 following an arrest at 201 W. Picacho Ave. He is currently being held without bond. According to news and police reports, the booking relates to a July 27, 2025, incident on Embassy Drive where Martinez allegedly threatened to shoot his mother. During the resulting standoff, Las Cruces police released bodycam footage showing an officer firing at Martinez after he reportedly pointed a weapon, later identified as a BB gun, at authorities. The incident led to initial charges of aggravated assault on a peace officer, resisting or obstructing, and assault against a household member. The charges are allegations, and Martinez is presumed innocent unless and until a court finds otherwise.
