Las Cruces Man, 20, Booked on Felony Warrant and Assault on an Officer

Allegedly... Elijah Issayah Jesus Files Mesa, 20, of Las Cruces, was booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center on April 13, 2026. Records show he was arrested near South Valley Drive and Rigsby Road on charges including assault on a peace officer, resisting or obstructing, concealing identity, and a seat belt violation. He is also being held on a felony failure to appear warrant with a $5,000 bond, while several other charges carry no bond. According to news reports, Mesa was sought in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on Feb. 28 on Monte Vista Street. Court and news records show he is accused of firing a weapon at a local residence and threatening the occupants. The current booking follows his apprehension at the intersection of South Valley Drive and Rigsby Road. The charges are allegations, and Mesa is presumed innocent unless and until a court finds otherwise.
