Las Cruces Teen Booked on Federal Transfer After Machine Gun, Stolen Firearm Charges

Allegedly... Jonathan Daniel Martinez, 19, of Las Cruces was booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center on June 26, 2025 on a federal transfer, according to jail records. The single felony count is listed only as "All Other Offenses," with no bond amount posted and the arrest location noted as "FED TRANSFER." Federal prosecutors announced charges against Martinez on March 17, 2025, accusing him of possessing a machine gun and a stolen firearm, according to ABQ RAW and the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of New Mexico. Investigators said the case began after Instagram posts surfaced in August 2024 showing Martinez with a stolen Glock 19 fitted with a machine gun conversion device, and a September 2024 search warrant at his home recovered the weapon, ABQ RAW reported. The FBI's Las Cruces Resident Agency led the investigation with help from Las Cruces police, according to the same report. If convicted, Martinez faces up to 20 years in prison, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. All charges described are allegations, and Martinez is presumed innocent unless and until a court finds otherwise.
