Roswell Woman, 55, Booked in New Mexico on Federal Transfer Charge

Allegedly... Maria De Jesus Avila-hernandez, 55, of Roswell, was booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center on Feb. 12, 2026. Records indicate she was processed via a federal transfer and is currently held without a set bond under booking number 2600001112. The primary booking classification is listed as a felony under all other offenses. According to news reports, Avila-hernandez was indicted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Mexico for fraud and misuse of a visa, social security fraud, and aggravated identity theft. Federal authorities allege she used fraudulent immigration and identification documents, along with another individual’s Social Security number, to obtain financial benefits.
