Las Cruces Man, 41, Booked on Felony Violation Following Prior Conviction

Matthew Castillo, 41, of Las Cruces, was booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center on Aug. 19, 2026. He faces a felony charge of failure to comply with conditions of release following an arrest at 790 Avenida de Mesilla. Booking records indicate he is currently being held without bond under booking number 2600006641. According to court and news records, Castillo was previously arrested in connection with a domestic dispute where he was accused of attacking his mother with a baseball bat. Federal appellate documents show that he subsequently pled guilty in October 2013 to a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
