Allegedly... Philip Lovato, 40, of Santa Fe, was booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center on Sept. 11, 2025, on a federal transfer, according to jail records. The booking lists a single felony count categorized as "all other offenses," with no bond set.
Federal prosecutors and national news outlets have tied a Philip Lovato of Santa Fe to a major multi-state fentanyl investigation announced by the DEA in May 2025. According to U.S. Department of Justice and KRQE News 13 reporting on what officials described as the largest fentanyl bust in DEA history, agents on April 29, 2025, seized roughly 110,000 fentanyl pills from a Santa Fe stash house connected to Lovato. Court filings cited by news outlets charge him with conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl, and DEA agents described him in an affidavit as a "significant customer" in the Santa Fe area. A Philip Lovato of Santa Fe was previously sentenced in 2016 to 10 years in federal prison for heroin trafficking and firearms offenses, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
All charges are allegations; Lovato is presumed innocent unless and until a court finds otherwise.
