Las Cruces Woman, 58, Faces Arson Charges in Nmsu Campus Fires

Allegedly... Robin Ann Appleton, a 58-year-old resident of Las Cruces, was booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center on May 6, 2026. She is being held without bond on multiple felony counts, including three counts of arson, criminal damage to property exceeding $1,000, and larceny of property valued between $500 and $2,500. Records list her booking number as 2600003600 and the arrest location as the intersection of Espina and North Horseshoe. According to news and court reports, Appleton was arrested in connection with three separate fires set on the New Mexico State University campus. NMSU Police identified her as the suspect in the arson incidents, which occurred alongside the alleged theft of a scooter. Media coverage from KFOX14 and the Albuquerque Journal indicates the charges stem from a series of campus fires that resulted in significant property damage. The charges are allegations, and Appleton is presumed innocent unless and until a court finds otherwise.
