Las Cruces Woman, 58, Booked on Felony Warrant Following Nmsu Arson Investigation

Allegedly... Robin Ann Appleton, 58, of Las Cruces, was booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center on Sept. 20, 2026. She was taken into custody at the intersection of University Avenue and Citizens Bank following a felony booking for failure to appear. Records indicate she is being held on a $5,000 bond under booking number 2600007573. According to news and court reports, the arrest follows an investigation by New Mexico State University Police into multiple arson incidents and a larceny case on the NMSU campus. Appleton has also been previously identified in connection with a separate arson case involving the Mesilla Valley Mall. Police records indicate these recent charges are linked to at least three fires set on university grounds. The charges are allegations, and Appleton is presumed innocent unless and until a court finds otherwise.
