Las Cruces Man, 41, Booked on Felony Charge Following Deming Bank Robbery

Allegedly... Zachary Michael Clay, 41, of Las Cruces, was booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center on Feb. 26, 2026. Clay was processed under booking number 2600001612 on a felony charge of all other offenses following an arrest in Luna County. He is currently being held without a set bond. According to news reports, Clay was arrested in Deming following a morning bank robbery where he allegedly brandished a hatchet. Court and news records show the incident resulted in a federal charge of attempted bank robbery after the suspect was apprehended at the scene.
